Why does my 6R80 still slip after replacing the clutches?
In 6R80 units, slipping is often caused by a failing solenoid or a cracked lead frame, rather than just worn frictions. If you find burnt clutches during a teardown, you must also inspect the valve body bridge seal and the solenoids, as these are the hydraulic "brains" that control the apply pressure to your new plates.
How long should I soak these friction plates before installation?
We recommend a minimum 20-minute soak. This ensures the friction material is fully saturated, preventing a "dry hit" during the first few shifts which could cause permanent damage to the material.
